David N. Vozza, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present “Medical-Legal Liability in the Age of #MeToo” for the Cayuga Grand Rounds Program on Friday, September 6, 7:30 a.m., at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York.
The presentation will educate participants as to the current state of law related to sexual harassment in the workplace, specifically in the health care setting, through real-world examples and scenarios. The goal is to inform participants of the applicable legal pitfalls and provide them with risk management measures to mitigate liability.
“The “#MeToo” movement is here to stay. It has already been a game changer in the field of sexual harassment that has not been seen since the likes of Anita Hill and Justice Clarence Thomas. Small businesses, including medical practices, may be subject to substantial liability for the actions of their principals and employees. It is essential that practitioners become knowledgeable about the applicable law concerning sexual harassment and the prevention of a hostile work environment,” said Vozza.
Vozza defends health care professionals in connection with disciplinary and regulatory actions before federal and state agencies, private and government payor audits, civil and criminal fraud investigations, hospital and privileges disputes, and general healthcare litigation in both federal and state courts. He also regularly defends health care professionals before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Office of Professional Discipline. Vozza frequently lectures at hospitals throughout New York State regarding medical fraud, regulatory agencies, professional licensure, and medical documentation. He earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 2001 and his B.A. from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, in 1998.
