Jeanne Hamburg Appointed to Board of
Women’s Jewelry Association, Metro Chapter

New York, NY (April 1, 2008) – Jeanne Hamburg, a member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been appointed to serve as a Board Member of the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA), Metropolitan Chapter. Hamburg has been assigned to the New Members Committee, which is responsible for recruiting new members, as well as welcoming these new members.

WJA, founded in 1983, is the preeminent association of professional women in the jewelry, watch and related businesses. Through the national organization, headquartered in Mount Royal, New Jersey, and a network of eleven regional chapters, members benefit from educational and networking opportunities, scholarships, design competitions and recognition programs. The mission of WJA is to empower women to achieve their highest goals in the international jewelry, watch and related businesses with a vision to strengthen WJA as the preeminent international association representing the interests of professional women in the industry. Hamburg has expertise in all aspects of copyright and trademark law, both in litigation and in the transactional area. She has expertise in assisting clients in a broad range of industries including those in the jewelry manufacturing, sales and design. She is also a proponent for the advancement of women generally and in the legal profession. Hamburg is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (former member of Committee on Enhancing Diversity in the Profession and Committee on Copyright and Literary Property), the International Trademark Association (Membership Committee, 2001-03; Contributing Editor, Trademark Basics E-Learning Program and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board E-Learning Program (ongoing online courses); Chairman and Contributing Editor, Legal Ethics and Professionalism for Trademark Practitioners (ongoing online course)).

Hamburg is a frequent speaker and writer on intellectual property topics and her articles have been published in trade magazines directed to the jewelry industry such as Colored Stone magazine. She earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1990, where she was a member and editor of the Columbia Law Review, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in English from Wellesley College in 1987.
