Joel N. Jacobson Re-Elected Chairman of Chatham Township Planning Board

The Somerville law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is pleased to announce that Joel N. Jacobson, a member of the firm, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Chatham Township, New Jersey Planning Board.

A resident of Chatham Township, Jacobson has been with Norris McLaughlin, P.A. for more than 32 years, including 29 years as a shareholder. He has been a member of the firm’s Management Committee since 1986 and chairs the firm’s Marketing Committee. He earned both his J.D. in 1971 and his B.A., cum laude, in 1968 from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jacobson’s practice focuses on banking, real estate and corporate matters. He represents a large number of financial institutions in lending, regulatory, operational and litigation matters. Included in his financial services experience are work-outs, bankruptcies and litigation involving a wide range of commercial and mortgage loans.

Jacobson’s real estate practice includes many large complex transactions on behalf of real estate owners, investors and developers. He regularly represents these clients in joint venture, conveyancing, leasing, development and financing matters.

In the area of corporate law, Jacobson has served as counsel to many closely-held corporations in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, fuel oil distribution, restaurants, construction and technology. As part of such representation, he has handled many purchases and sales of businesses.

Jacobson is a member of the New Jersey, New York and District of Columbia Bars, and the Real Estate, Banking Law and Debtor/Creditor Sections of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has been the firm’s representative to Meritas, a worldwide affiliation of approximately 200 leading mid-sized commercial law firms, since 1991 and currently serves on the Meritas Board of Directors and as Chairman of its Financial Services Section. He is listed in the Banking Law section of the current edition of The Best Lawyers In America.
