Foucek & Stellato Host Local Lehigh Lawyers Association Networking Event
Allentown, PA (November 4, 2011) – Oldrich Foucek, III and Frederick J. Stellato, Members of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino, the Pennsylvania office of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., hosted a Lehigh Lawyers Association Networking Reception on October 31, 2011, at the Artsquest Center on the SteelStacks Campus in South Bethlehem. The event was designed for Lehigh University alumni who are attorneys practicing in the greater Lehigh Valley. Fran Troyan, Lehigh University’s NCAA Compliance Officer and Softball Coach, and a lawyer himself, shared his thoughts on the University’s athletics and current NCAA compliance issues.
The Lehigh Lawyers Association (LLA) provides a social, business, educational and professional network for Lehigh University alumni with legal backgrounds, in order to create valuable connections and support Lehigh University. It is the goal of LLA to establish itself as an asset give back to Lehigh University by assisting Lehigh’s educational mission through support of its faculty and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in law.
“All in attendance enjoyed themselves and agreed to continue to support the mission of the association,” said Foucek, a member of LLA.
Foucek is a founding partner of the Pennsylvania office and serves on the firm’s compensation committee.
During his career, Foucek has advised, litigated and favorably resolved disputes for business clients with regard to a wide range of substantive issues, including architects/engineers liability, construction disputes, shareholder disputes, wrongful discharge, employee restrictive covenants, corporate governance, student and physician discipline, real estate tax exemptions, software licensing, HMO liability, Title VII, ADEA, ADA, ERISA, and securities fraud.
In addition, Foucek has appeared, and successfully argued appeals before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Superior and Commonwealth Courts, as well as The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Foucek also assists entrepreneurs, including those with emerging technologies, in the formation of business entities and advises them throughout the process of building their businesses.
Over the years, Foucek has been very involved in the community. Currently, he chairs the Allentown City Planning Commission and the Friends of Zoellner Arts Center, and he is a member of the board of advisors of The Allentown Art Museum. He is general counsel for The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and secretary of Saucon Valley Country Club. He has been active as a volunteer at Lehigh University, serving his alma mater in a number of capacities, including nine years as a trustee. Foucek has also served on the Boards of the Pennsylvania Stage Company (including a term as president) and Touchstone Theatre.
Stellato, who practiced in Philadelphia for 19 years before returning home to the Lehigh Valley to join the firm, is a trial attorney who handles many types of civil and commercial litigation matters. He has tried at least 65 cases to verdict, both jury and non-jury, in the areas of products liability, general liability, and professional liability, as well as commercial disputes.
Stellato has made presentations on trial-related topics to numerous institutions including Temple University Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, Temple University Law School, Roxborough Hospital School of Nursing, and CIGNA Property and Casualty Company. He has also done programs for the judges of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel.
Stellato played soccer for many years and is a state-licensed coach, having trained soccer teams of every age from five to sixteen. He is President and CEO of the Soccer Association of the Lehigh Valley, Inc., a non-profit which runs FC Sonic Lehigh Valley, a soccer franchise in the National Premier Soccer League. Stellato has been a guest lecturer at Muhlenberg College for a course entitled “Management of Not-for-Profit Organizations.”
Stellato earned his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1982 and his B.A., cum laude, from Lehigh University in 1979.
