Jeanne Hamburg Named Among New York Metro Super Lawyers Again in 2018

Jeanne M. Hamburg, a Member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been included in the New York Metro Super Lawyers® 2018 Edition, as she has been every year since 2009.  Only five percent of New York lawyers are given this honor.

New York Metro Super Lawyers, a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement, is published in Super Lawyers Magazine.  Each year since 2009, Hamburg has been recognized for Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Litigation. The multi-phased selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluationsThe magazine, which features the list and profiles of selected attorneys, is distributed to attorneys in the state or region and the ABA-accredited law school libraries.  Super Lawyers is also published as a special section in leading city and regional magazines across the country.  In the United States, Super Lawyers Magazine is published in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., reaching more than 13 million readers.

A resident of New York, Hamburg is expert in all aspects of copyright and trademark law, both in litigation and in the transactional area, assisting clients in a broad range of industries with their IP needs.

Hamburg has litigated in federal courts across the country, acting as national counsel to bring and defend infringement claims for clients both foreign and domestic.  Hamburg has recovered domain names for clients in many Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Proceedings, and prosecuted and defended numerous opposition and cancellation proceedings and ex parte appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Hamburg is experienced in trademark and copyright licensing, traditional print and online publishing, software development, website development, content licenses, and electronic subscriptions.  She is expert in copyright and trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement, and issues arising from the Internet. She is Chair of the firm’s Internet Law Group.

Hamburg frequently speaks and writes about intellectual property topics and is active in many trade groups in industries whose clients she serves.  She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), currently serving on its Government Officials Training Committee.  Formerly, she was Chair of INTA’s Law Firm Committee, served on its Copyright Committee, and was a speaker for its Trademark Basics “Maintaining the Perfect Partnership” seminar held in New York for in-house and outside counsel.

Hamburg attended Wellesley College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received her B.A., magna cum laude, in English and Psychology, with Honors in English, in 1987.  In 1990, she received her J.D. at Columbia University School of Law, where she was editor of the Columbia Law Review.
