Jerry Gallagher Receives 2018 NJIT Alumni Achievement Award

Jerome F. Gallagher, Jr., a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been honored by his alma mater, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), as an alumnus bringing honor to NJIT with exceptional accomplishment in his career, while also giving back to the school and community. He received the 2018 NJIT Alumni Achievement Award during Alumni Weekend, which occurred May 18-20 on campus. NJIT issued this press release prior to the event. AREA ATTORNEY TO RECEIVE 2018 NJIT ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
On May 19, Jerome F. Gallagher, Jr., ’80, attorney with Norris McLaughlin, P.A.Marcus, P.A., will receive a 2018 NJIT Alumni Achievement Award. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place during Alumni Weekend.
When asked about the award, the Randolph, NJ, resident said, “It is truly an honor and a privilege. My NJIT education has served me well and I hope to give back to the university as best I can.”
As a member of the firm’s Litigation, Banking & Financial Services, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights, and Construction Law Groups, Gallagher has served as the New Jersey counsel to several national companies, including Intercos Europe, SpA, JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., K. Hovnanian Companies, IPFS Corporation, and Valley National Bank, N.A. He also represents private businesses in several industries, including cosmetics, retail packaging, computer support and specialty concrete products.
Gallagher, who graduated NJIT with a degree in Civil Engineering, is active at the university, serving as Chair of NJIT’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board. He also serves as Trustee of the Passaic Optimist Foundation, which raises scholarship funds for Passaic teens.
Each year, the NJIT Alumni Association honors alumni who have achieved success professionally while also giving generously of their time and talents to the community and to their alma mater. Gallagher is one of four NJIT alumni to be honored this year. The others are:

- Antonio Crincoli, PE, ’86, Vice President of Global Engineering at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA
- Karen Ekshian ’12, Senior Designer at Marvel Architects
- Patrick J. Natale, PE, FASCE, FASAE, CAE, ’70 ’75 M.S., Vice President of Business Strategies at Mott MacDonald, Inc.
In addition, Andrew Sohn, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Ying Wu College of Computing, was selected by NJIT alumni to receive the 2018 Robert W. Van Houten Award for Teaching Excellence. The Van Houten Award reflects the highest level of success in leading students to knowledge and understanding.
Alumni Weekend is an annual event celebrating all things NJIT. As many as 300 alumni will visit the University Heights campus for reunions, “Techtalks,” campus tours, receptions, a dinner dance, and a special address by President Joel S. Bloom.
