Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Participates
In NY Cares Winter Wishes Program

Bridgewater, NJ (December 4, 2008) – The law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is pleased to announce it will participate in the New York Cares’ Winter Wishes for Kids and Families Program, as part of its commitment to community. The program helps fulfill the holiday wishes of more than 31,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers. Children, teens, and families write letters to New York Cares requesting a gift that will make the holidays brighter. A team of attorneys and staff at the firm will volunteer to answer several of those letters by buying the requested gifts.

“It is our pleasure to participate in the NY Cares Winter Wishes Program and we look forward to participating in other corporate programs they offer throughout the year. We pride ourselves on being a responsible corporate citizen, by giving back to the communities in which we work and live. It is rewarding to be able to give to others who otherwise might not be able to celebrate with presents during the holiday season,” stated Karol S. Robinson, Member of the firm and coordinator of its Winter Wishes team.

New York Cares, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against the serious social issues facing the city of New York. Their goal was to meet pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service – and this continues to be its mission today. Each year, New York Cares brings vital volunteer support to more than 990 nonprofit agencies, public schools, and other deserving organizations throughout the five boroughs. Its program staff works with each organization to identify their most pressing needs, create projects where volunteers can make a meaningful difference, and then recruit and deploy teams of volunteers to help meet those needs. The great majority of these projects typically would not exist if it weren’t for New York Cares.

More than 43,000 people volunteer their time through New York Cares every year, while countless others contribute to its holiday gift and coat drives, helping nearly 450,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers. New York Cares does this by creating year-round volunteer opportunities, creating citywide days of service, fostering corporate social responsibility, helping New York prepare for disasters, engaging youth in service, and organizing holiday gift and coat drives.

Norris McLaughlin, P.A. prides itself on being a responsible corporate citizen through extensive pro bono work and firm-wide charitable initiatives for worthwhile causes, such as the Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity and Somerset County’s Resource Center for Women & Their Families. Individual attorneys and staff also give their time and talents to many organizations, including the Montgomery Academy, The Adult Day Center of Somerset County, Somerset County Crimestoppers, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Hunterdon Prevention Resources, to name a few.
