Women’s Forum Announces
Fall Festival of the Arts

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Women’s Forum will host the Fall Festival of the Arts on October 18, 2007, at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

“The Fall Festival of the Arts will be a cocktail reception for the local business community with a charity auction to benefit the Lung Cancer Circle of Hope and Somerset County’s Resource Center for Women and Their Families. The Women’s Forum is extremely happy to help raise money for two such worthwhile organizations that help women,” announced the Chair of the Forum’s Major Event Committee. The Women’s Forum will donate all proceeds from silent and live auctions to both charities. Auction items will be from the world of arts and unique gift baskets, including sports memorabilia and tickets, wine, spa and salon gift certificates and other donations from local businesses.

“We are excited to be a part of the Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Women’s Forum Fall Festival of the Arts and look forward to its success,” said Susan Levin, the founder of the Lung Cancer Circle of Hope. “Contrary to common belief, one does not have to be a smoker or overly exposed to second-hand smoke to get lung cancer. One in five women diagnosed with lung cancer never smoked. Our goal is to dispel the myths by distributing the facts about lung cancer, the number one cancer killer of men and women. Proceeds from the event will help us to continue our work,” Levin explained. The Lung Cancer Circle of Hope is a statewide not-for-profit organization based in Lakewood, New Jersey. It was founded by Levin in 2006, after her mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with lung cancer.

The Resource Center for Women and Their Families is a private non-profit agency serving victims of domestic abuse in Somerset County. Its mission is to end domestic violence by providing protection, education, and resources to empower victims and their families. “We have but one goal, to help those who have been impacted by domestic abuse to find peace and safety in their lives,” said Executive Director Paloma Amar-Coleman. “With the concept Peace Begins at Home, we assist our clients as they transition from victims to survivors. Our clients embark on a life-long journey that is challenging and painful; this journey will allow them to lead violence-free, peaceful lives.”

The Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Women’s Forum is comprised of approximately 30 women attorneys who excel in their areas of legal expertise. The mission of the NMM Women’s Forum is to promote the advancement of all women while drawing on the particular legal expertise of its members in cooperation with other women leaders throughout New Jersey and New York. The Fall Festival of the Arts is part of the commitment of the NMM Women’s Forum to charitable and social activities geared toward women in business and leadership roles. In June, the NMM Women’s Forum sponsored Girls on the Run, which trained more than 500 girls in Somerset County for their first 5K run, in addition to promoting fitness and well-being.
