Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Mourns the Passing of Founding Partner
Allentown, PA (February 4, 2013) – Norris McLaughlin, P.A., mourns the passing of founding partner, mentor, colleague and friend, Robert G. Tallman. Tallman joined Butz, Steckel, Hudders & Rupp in January 1962. In 1989, he and a number of Butz Hudders Partners and Matthew Sorrentino formed Tallman, Hudders and Sorrentino, which merged with Norris McLaughlin, P.A. in 2009.
“For almost 25 years, since 1989, Bob Tallman and I had the great good fortune to work with each other and with people we love in an environment of professionalism and competence at every level and mutual respect. We have lost a wonderful partner, mentor and friend,” said Sorrentino, Managing Partner of the Pennsylvania office.
Robert G. Tallman has been a partner in the firm (and its predecessors) since 1962. His knowledge, wisdom and experience have guided the firm since its inception. Over the years Tallman served as a trusted counsel and advisor to some of the region’s largest and most respected institutions including the Lehigh Valley Dairy and the Lehigh Valley Health Network. He also assisted numerous large and small family-owned businesses in the management and transition of their assets over generations.
Until December 2012, Tallman continued an active estate administration practice with the firm and served in an emeritus capacity on the management committee where he provided valuable insight into the firm’s development and growth.
Tallman earned his degrees from the University of Miami (Ohio) and the University of Virginia Law School. He served as trial counsel in the Judge Advocate Corps of the U.S. Army. He has served on numerous boards of business corporations, charitable organizations, and education institutions including The Livingston Club, Wiley House and its successor, KidsPeace, The Swain School, CedarCrestCollege, and Lehigh Valley Hospice. He served as general counsel and member of the executive committee of the Allentown-Lehigh County Chamber of Commerce, and trustee and president of the Walter and Alma Bastian Foundation, and a trustee and president of the Lehigh County Historical Society.
