Peter D. Hutcheon Named in Who’s Who in America Law
Bridgewater, NJ (April 29, 2011) – Peter D. Hutcheon, a Member of the Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America Law 2011-2012.
Who’s Who in America provides biographies of more than 25,000 leading attorneys and other legal professionals such as judges, educators and legal theorists, highlighting their lives and careers, specialties, education and achievements. Who’s Who in the World focuses on the lives and careers of millions of leaders and achievers from around the world and from every significant field of endeavor. A resident of Clayton, Gloucester County, New Jersey, Hutcheon practices in the areas of commercial transactions, securities, and banking and finance law at Norris McLaughlin, P.A.. He also regularly counsels the management of public and private companies on a variety of corporate governance matters including the complexities of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Hutcheon regularly counsels managements of public and private companies and banking institutions on governance matters. He has particular expertise with respect to indemnification and insurance issues affecting directors and officers. Hutcheon regularly represents one of the largest contract sales organizations, negotiating major field force agreements with pharmaceutical companies. He also represents clients seeking investment capital from private placements, venture capital and private equity deals, as well as firm commitment underwritten offerings of securities. Hutcheon is experienced with securities matters ranging from stock options to dividend reinvestment plans. He possesses extensive familiarity with bank regulatory matters and has worked on mergers and acquisitions in the banking industry. Hutcheon has considerable experience in corporate and financing transactions and has represented both buyers and sellers in public and private corporate acquisition transactions in deals involving some $1 billion.
Hutcheon is a long-time member of the American Bar Association’s Section on Business Law, Partnerships and Unincorporated Business Organizations Committee and, for 16 years, was the editor of its newsletter, the PUBOGRAM. He is the 2005 recipient of the Martin I. Lubaroff Award for his lifelong service to this Committee. He was a director for 22 years (including 2 years as chair) of the New Jersey State Bar, Corporate and Business Law Section. He also chaired the State Bar’s Banking Law Section. He was chairman of the New Jersey Corporate and Business Law Study Commission from its inception in 1989 to 2002, where he provided reports and suggestions on business law developments to the New Jersey Legislature and the Governor. Hutcheon chaired the New Jersey Securities Advisory Committee appointed by the Attorney General from 1995 to 2001, and has served as the American Bar Association’s Liaison to the New Jersey Bureau of Securities for over 26 years. He has served as Chair of the ABA’s Section of Science and Technology and as Editor of its quarterly journal, Jurimetrics.
Hutcheon has been selected for inclusion in the Business/Corporate section of New Jersey Super Lawyers® consistently since 2005. He has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers In America.
Hutcheon has authored numerous articles on various business-related law topics including limited liability companies, securities, and directors’ and officers’ liability. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, cum laude, in 1969 and his B.A. from Williams College, magna cum laude, in 1965.
