His colleagues Donald H. Lipson and F. Peter Lehr, also members of the firm, will serve as Assistant Solicitor and Assistant Solicitor of the Planning Commission, respectively. “I look forward to working with Rich and his team from Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino. I feel their depth and breadth of knowledge and experience specifically in regards to local government, labor law, personnel issues and a strong litigation team will be an asset to Lower Macungie Township and its citizens,” said Bruce E. Fosselman, Township Manager for Lower Macungie Township.
“I and my colleagues are honored to serve and provide sound legal guidance to the Board of Commissioners. We feel our substantial resources will allow us to provide additional value so the Township may continue to maintain and improve the quality of life in the community,” said Somach.
Lower Macungie Township, recently converting to a First Class Township in 2008, is an exceptionally attractive and strategically positioned community. The Township is located in Lehigh County, immediately west of Allentown and is the third largest municipality in the Lehigh Valley region. The Township currently encompasses 22.9 square miles and is home to over 31,000 people. It is characterized as a residential suburban community with immediate access to exceptional educational resources, ‘open space’, farmlands and the Little Lehigh Creek, creating a most attractive living environment for all. Lower Macungie Township is noted for its comfortable housing developments and has become one of the most desirable parts of the Lehigh Valley for many families.
Somach focuses his practice on real estate, commercial law, and creditors’ remedies, representing real estate development companies, shopping centers, and local banks. Somach has represented real estate owners, developers and investors in a broad range of real estate transactions, including zoning matters, residential subdivisions and shopping center development.
Somach serves as Assistant Lehigh County Solicitor, advising the Sheriff’s Office, the Tax Assessment Office and the Tax Claim Bureau and frequently writes and lectures on real estate matters, sheriff’s sales and real estate tax sales.
Active in many community organizations, Somach was a past president of the Salisbury Township School Board. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Lehigh County Bar Association, where he served as President in 1992.
Somach earned his J.D. in 1974 from Hofstra University and his B.A., with honors, from Lehigh University in 1971.
