Steven Karg Speaks to New Jersey Defense and Corporate Counsel Associations

Steven A. Karg, a Member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will participate in a seminar entitled “Product Liability Defense Strategies,” presented by the New Jersey Defense Association (NJDA) in conjunction with the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (NJCCA), on Friday, March 12, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Woodbridge Hilton in Iselin, New Jersey. The mission of the New Jersey Defense Association is to establish a communication link among New Jersey defense attorneys, insurance claim professionals, self-insurers and other corporations who devote a substantial portion of their time to the defense of damage suits or to claims administration. The New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel represents the interests of over 1,000 in-house counsel in over 350 corporations throughout the state. It offers focus, value, and consistency for those desiring training and development, whether based on seminars, meetings, peer-to-peer interaction or online webcasts. It is in-house counsel developing programs for in-house counsel. It is also a perfect forum for professional and leadership development by offering multiple opportunities for networking and benchmarking and for becoming an active part of the Chapter.
Karg focuses his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on products liability defense. He has substantial experience defending manufacturers and/or distributors of a wide variety of products including prescription medications. He represents clients at both the trial and appellate level. He is the New Jersey counsel to Pfizer in the Celebrex/Bextra centralized litigation. He is also the New Jersey counsel to APP Pharmaceuticals and Abraxis BioScience, Inc. for several medications.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Karg was the Manager of Property and Facilities at Purolator Courier Corporation where he managed the company’s many facilities and supervised construction projects. Prior to that, he was a production supervisor and industrial engineer at the Colgate-Palmolive Company where he oversaw the production of personal care products.
Karg frequently speaks to various organizations about products liability issues, such as the American Bar Association, Meritas, Inc., New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association, New Jersey Defense Association, New Jersey Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, New Jersey Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society, Northeast Pharmaceutical Attorneys and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In addition, he has also authored many articles on various products liability and toxic tort issues.
Karg is President-Elect of the Somerset County Bar Association, a member of the New Jersey Defense Association (Former Chairperson, Products Liability Committee) and the Defense Research Institute (Member, Products Liability and Drug & Medical Device Committees).
Karg earned his J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University and his B.S., magna cum laude, from Trenton State College in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
