Theodore J. Zeller III to Participate in Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry

Posted on April 6th, 2017

Theodore J. Zeller III, a Member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., and Chair of its Liquor Law Department, will participate in the Spring 2017 Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry in Santa Rosa, California, May 16-18.

In America, 1 in 5 kids struggle with hunger.  No Kid Hungry, a campaign of Share Our Strength, the national anti-hunger organization, is pushing to end childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day  off right with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need in order to shop and cook on a budget.

Chefs Cycle is a fundraising endurance event, in which award-winning chefs and members of the culinary community complete a three-day, 300-mile ride, while raising money and awareness for a great cause.  Every dollar can help to create up to ten healthy meals; therefore the goal this year of the 250+ riders is to raise $2 million to provide 20 million meals to children facing hunger.  To learn more about Chefs Cycle, and to do what you can to help end childhood hunger in America, please visit www.chefscycle.org, and be sure to look for team Wheels of Thyme, led by Lee Chizmar, chef at Bolete Restaurant in Bethlehem and Mr. Lee’s Noodles in Easton, semifinalist of the 2015 James Beard Foundation Best Chefs in America, and originally from the Allentown area.  Zeller is proud to join Chizmar’s team and donations can be made to Wheels of Thyme or under Zeller’s name.

“What a wonderful charity to support.  I am excited to push my limits and honored to ride with some amazing people to play our role in ending childhood hunger in America,” said Zeller.

Zeller focuses his practice on alcoholic beverage law, commercial transactions including related real estate transactions, and litigation.  He began his legal career as a litigator and has tried multiple cases in county and federal court, including jury trials, and hundreds of cases before arbitration panels, district justices, and administrative law judges.  He was lead counsel in a beer rights case brought against the world’s largest brewers, and serves as outside general counsel to Yuengling Brewery and Brewers of Pennsylvania, among others.

Zeller’s lobbying efforts helped to modernize parts of the Pennsylvania liquor code, and he has authored numerous provisions that have been enacted into law.  Most recently, his efforts helped change brewery regulations to allow for tap rooms and he authored the Malt Beverage Tax Excise Credit Legislation.  Further, he has written extensively about Acts 39 and 166 and his Liquor Law Blog can be found at www.nmmlaw.com/nmmliquorlawblog/.

In addition, Zeller advises alcohol manufacturers on state and federal law, regulatory compliance, and distribution issues.  He also counsels clients on the acquisition of liquor licenses on the open market and coordinates liquor license transactions with other practice areas, such as real estate, corporate and business law, employment law, intellectual property, financing, tax law, and litigation.

Zeller earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1989 and his J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University in 1992.
